PRC Digital Media has won another Golden Reel award from the Media Communications Association – International Video Festival. Dream Home: The Arc Jacksonville Village was selected as one of five Golden Reel winners In the 47th Annual Festival.
The video was originally prepared for public showing at a conference for disabled housing in Chicago last September. Arc Jacksonville has served clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 50 years. Arc Jacksonville’s Executive Director, Jim Whitaker, was a featured speaker at the conference and used the video to showcase the innovative Village housing project. The Village is set to open next month and provides independent living for Arc clients.
Ray Hays, Producer and writer has worked on a number of videos for the Arc over the past several years. “We’ve been proud to do our part for this community and so impressed with what The Arc Jacksonville has accomplished” said Hays “We had to pull this video together in two weeks so there was no time for creative rumination. Jim told us of a quote from Maya Angelou and we ran with it from there.” Hays also received a Bronze Reel award for writing for the script.
Each entry is reviewed by panels of industry professionals from across the country and around the world, many of whom are Media Festival award winners themselves. Panels are made up of 6-9 judges. The MCA-I Media Festival is one of a very few festivals that provide feedback to the entrants from the judges. As with many other competitions, entries do not compete against each other and there may be more than one Golden, Silver or Bronze reel in a category.
Entries are evaluated on effective use of the medium, creativity, production values and technical quality in three areas: Message Design, Creative Elements and Production Elements.
